For Creators

We aspire to feature more than WQED’s own content on The 412. We’re talking with various independent filmmakers and partners like the Heinz History Center about community content we can add to our lineup.

How can I submit content for The 412?

Please send us an email: neighbors@wqed.org. Tell us a bit about your content and how you think it aligns with WQED’s mission to showcase the stories and voices that make our communities so special. Please include a link to where we can screen your content, even if it’s password-protected.

What kind of content are you looking for?

Broadly, we’re seeking films, performances, lectures, and other educational content by and about people and organizations across southwestern Pennsylvania. We plan to keep the channel family-friendly and want content intended for general audiences.

How does licensing work?

You must own or have the right to license the content. You must also guarantee that your content does not infringe or misappropriate any third party’s intellectual property or other rights. We will ask you to sign a non-exclusive and revocable distribution license, meaning you maintain all rights to your content and you can terminate the license if you change your mind.

Will creators be paid?

Not initially. We’re launching this channel—and incurring all expenses—as an experiment to promote content to help local creators reach new audiences. Think of this like a free film festival: we want to help neighbors discover content they weren’t aware of before.
